Humanity and Nature in Other Words: Narratives and Hermeneutics on Humanity and Nature in Indigenous Communities of South America
This project aimed at creating a record of different narratives that, revolving around the history of humanity and the perception of nature, have been preserved and passed down through oral traditions by traditional authorities of indigenous communities in Latin America. The goal was to explore the implications of these narratives for understanding the regional and global
present.
The history of humanity and nature constitutes a central axis around which various narratives revolve. These narratives, reflecting the plurality of historical spaces and anthropological times with which the past was woven and the common future envisioned, not only problematize hegemonic versions of this history but also offer innovative keys for a critical interpretation of the present on various scales.
The project was funded by UNESCO.
